The recent arrest of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Ravi, also known as Bullet Ravi, in connection with the 2022 pro-Pakistan slogan case has ignited a fresh political storm in Karnataka. The incident, which took place after Congress leader Syed Naseer Hussain's victory in the Rajya Sabha polls on February 27, has become a focal point for political skirmishes in the state.

The chanting of 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogans at Bengaluru's Vidhana Soudha prompted the BJP to criticize the Congress government's handling of law and order. However, Ravi's arrest in Mandya in connection with the same case has added a new dimension to the controversy.

The roots of the case trace back to a BJP protest against Pakistan's foreign minister's remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mandya on December 18, 2022. In his complaint, lawyer Kannambadi Kumar alleged that a video from the protest showed 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogans being raised, leading to Ravi's arrest.

The Congress, now in power, has seized the opportunity to question the BJP's actions during its tenure. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar have criticized the BJP for not registering a case against Ravi in 2022. They emphasized the government's commitment to transparent investigations.

In response, the BJP has accused the Congress government of indulging in vendetta politics. BJP spokesperson S Prakash defended Ravi, stating that the police had previously conducted an inquiry and concluded that the incident was not intentional. He criticized the government for comparing the Mandya incident to the Vidhana Soudha case and accused them of orchestrating arrests to balance the political narrative.

The arrest of Ravi and the subsequent political sparring highlight the heightened tensions between the BJP and the ruling Congress in Karnataka, setting the stage for a contentious battle in the state's political arena.
